Camerons were definitely celebrating with style at the Jersey Construction Awards, held at the Hotel de France on Saturday 15th October 2016 as they came away with the Comprop Business of the Year Award, and the Weighbridge House project (formerly the Southampton Hotel), of which they were the main contractor, won the Benest & Syvret Project of the Year over £3m.
With Camerons achieving 60 years of building in Jersey, it seemed fitting that it was their year to win business of the year, particularly with the fact that they have completed a number of prestigious projects during 2015/2016 and are currently working on more high profile contracts including JIFC Building 4, Co-op/Premier Inn Development and the refurbishment of a number of Andium Homes buildings.
The judges praised Camerons on their investment in their staff, with training and development being a key component to the business as well as maintaining a very high standard for Health and Safety.
The judges were also impressed with Camerons philosophy to their clients, based on commitment to service, schedule, quality and to develop an understanding of the clients’ core responsibility which was more than demonstrated with clients Comprop on the Weighbridge House project, a worthy winner for the project over £3m. Engineers Hartigans, also won the Ogier Best Use of Innovation Award on the night for the project.
The demolition and new construction around the listed façade proved to be an interesting but challenging project for all and Camerons was able to utilise the specialist skills of Garenne Group sister company, Granite Le Pelley to restore the original exterior wall that was a requirement of the development of the site.
